Setup Jenkins In 10 Minutes

This article shows you how to set up Jenkins. It is a free open-source automation server which provides software developer and quality engineers to easy ways of the building, testing, and running automation. Jenkins is a CICD (Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery) tool. Before that please walk through the steps are given below to understand the process of how to do it.

  1. Firstly, you have to download the Jenkins war file from here.
  2. Then start using below command in your terminal
    java -jar Jenkins.war
  3. Then type this URL on your web browser – http://localhost:8080
  4. After that, you can unlock the Jenkins.
  5. Next step is go to .jenkins/secrets/initialadminpassword folder in the home location
  6. After copying the password which is inside the initialadminpassword file and unlock the Jenkins
  7. In a few seconds, you will be able to see Customize Jenkins page and select the appropriate option, then it will redirect to Getting Start page
  8. Finally, You will be redirected to the “Create First Admin User” Page. Then create admin user and password and submit. Now your Jenkins is ready to use.

Once set up the Jenkins you can create your own build jobs or schedulers in it. E.g: You can create a schedule for scanning your source code from the SonarQube.
